As summer fast approaches it's probably time for an update on Eric. Eric
recently completed the school year at Michigan Early On. His progress in this
program has been remarkable. When he first started in the program he tired
easily and lacked confidence in his own ability. As the year has gone on,
his staminia, desire, & confidence have all improved. If anything, he
has gotten a little too confident and now we have young man willing to do
and try anything...A huge difference from last year. The staff involved with
Eric at the early on program are very excited for next steps in his development.
They are all curious to see just how much Eric will grow and change this summer.
Medically speaking, nothing much has changed. The April appointment at UofM
Mott's Children hospital was pretty much the same from the last visit. No
big revelations from the doctor's, just more continued monitoring of cell
counts and blood levels.
Probably the biggest change recently with Eric is his feeding tube has been
removed....but not by a doctor. This past Saturday Eric yanked the thing right
out of his belly all on his own. OUCH!!! An emergency call was placed to the
GI doctor and his direction was just to let the stomach wound heal. Since
we don't use the tube anymore, this was both good and bad news for Stacey
& I. We are glad that the tube is out...I just wish it could have been
removed by a guy with a white coat and a medical degree. We have a follow
up appointment with the GI doctor in a couple of weeks for a basic check up.
That's about it for now. Here's hoping that everybody has a safe and happy
summer!
